How Much Vitamins are Too Much or Too Less?

Vitamins are essential component for healthy skin as well as for your body. It is to be consumed everyday but taking too much is harmful.

If expectant mothers take too much vitamin A, it will affect baby growth.
It also increases the rate of cancer. Don’t forget, too much is as bad as too little. Overdose of vitamins is harmful to your skin. Taking adequate dose of vitamins
is important.

How much is adequate?

When we say excess intake, we refer to vitamin intake from dietary supplements. Supplements have concentrated form of ingredients
in each tablet.

If you can’t take a variety of vitamins or minerals from food, the best way is to take supplements. However, there has been a problem of overdose.

Taking vitamins from natural sources such as vegetables is not a problem even if you take a large quantity.

Vitamin A

Excess intake of Vitamin A seems harmless but if taken by expectant mothers, it can lead to birth defects. Liver products that contain vitamin A should not be
consumed in large amount.

Beta- carotene found in vegetables is converted to Vitamin A inside the body only when the body requests. Therefore you don’t have to be
concerned with overdose as long as you consume it from vegetables.

Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 is called Niacin. Niacin overdose may cause redness of skin, itching, and it can also cause severe liver damage or a problem with digestive system.
You should be careful with the dosage.

Vitamin B1 and B2

Vitamin B1 and B2 are essential vitamins for healthy skin. They are soluble so they will be excreted when taken in excess.

Folic acid (folate)

Expectant mothers and mothers breastfeeding babies need to take folic acid. It helps baby growth if taken adequately and it also prevents arteriosclerosis.

While consuming enough folic acid helps prevent anemia, consuming too much can prove harmful. Some of the symptoms of overdose include respiratory
disorder and rash.

Vitamin D, sunshine vitamin

We know ultraviolet ray exposure can cause skin cancer. But ultraviolet ray stimulates human skin to produce vitamin D. This vitamin is essential in preventing
osteoarthritis, immune disorder and other adult diseases.

Because your body makes Vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, you maybe at risk of deficiency if you cover your skin with
sunscreens.
But that does not mean you should stop protecting your skin from sun exposure.

The best way to prevent the deficiency is to consume this vitamin from food such as salmon, Pacific saury, tuna, trout, flounder, sardine, dried whitebait, can of
tuna, Spanish mackerel, eggs, mushrooms, etc.
